Junior and Senior Cup Second Round Predictions

JUNIOR CUP

BANDON GRAMMAR VS CRESCENT COMPREHENSIVE

After a hard fought first round from both these sides, many would find it hard to split them. However, Comp seem the unluckier of the two having drawn with favourites CBC and just losing out to the controversial first-try rule. Likewise, Bandon were only beaten by a last-gasp Castletroy try, but I can only see this match going one way.

Prediction: Crescent by 15.

GLENSTAL ABBEY VS ST. MUNCHINS COLLEGE

Glenstal come into this encounter off the back of a shock defeat to dark horses Clements while Munchins slumped to a disappointing 12 point defeat in the hands of Rockwell. Glenstal came out on top 21-13 comfortable winners last time out but with both teams at full strength we can expect a closer match up with Munchins predictably coming out the stronger. Discipline will be key for both teams as both teams had 2 players sin-binned in the first half of their games.

Prediction: St. Munchins by 5.

Senior Cup

ST. MUNCHINS COLLEGE VS CASTLETROY COLLEGE

Castletroy looked very strong in their first round encounter with Bandon Grammar only for indiscipline cost them heavily. If St. Munchins improve from their first round performance and find a way to take advantage of Castletroy’s temperament, they may have a chance in this one.

Prediction: Castletroy by 10

CRESCENT COLLEGE VS ST.CLEMENTS

St. Clements started with a very tough first round against Glenstal. They lost by a respectable amount to one of the competition’s favourites. Unfortunately for the tournament underdogs, their second round opponents looked stronger in defeat as they narrowly lost out to a strong CBC side. It’s usually difficult to doubt a Comp side in the Senior Cup and so it has proved here.

Prediction: Crescent by 15
