The game began well with each side looking threatening. However, an error from Castletroy out-half, Andrew Shanahan, allowed Comp to grab an early lead with a try from James McKeogh. It was converted by Jack Delaney to make the early score 7-0.
The weather deteriorated and so did the handling of both sides with multiple knock-ons in the remainder of the half spoiling the spectacle.
Half-Time Score: Crescent Comprehensive 7-0 Castletroy College.

The second half picked up where the first half left off and the errors from both sides continued, partially because of some strong defense from the two teams.
Soon later however, Comp woke up somewhat and were able to go on the offensive. Some amazing last-stitch tackling from Castletroy’s captain Cian White stopped Ben Cosgrave from grabbing a try in the corner. Comp were able to base an attack on this line-out and Joshua Fitzgerald crashed over the whitewash to extend Comp’s lead by 14 points.

The game was moving at a snail’s pace when Jack Delaney snuck over for another try in the corner. This time he missed the target from the conversion but the try had made Comp certain victors with only 10 left to play and 19 points ahead.
Castletroy’ body language showed their realization that they wouldn’t be reaching the final and as the pressure lifted, were able to muster up one final attack and scored a consolation try. Andrew Shanahan was able to convert the kick to bring the game to a close.
Final Score: Crescent Comprehensive 19-5 Castletroy College.
