Denis Hayes reports from the University Of Limerick
The first half was close and tense, with neither Glenstal or Rockwell able to get a foothold on the game.
Mid-way through however, the game began to spark. Glenstal had a couple of efforts for the line, only to be held up, before Rockwell tried likewise at the other end.
Despite the sides’ efforts however, the half time score would read as 3-3 as a Jake Flannery penalty for Rockwell, cancelled out by Ben Healy eneded up being the only scores of the opening forty.

Glenstal were a different side after the interval.
Not long in, a strong run by hooker George Downing down the right wing got last year’s finalists motoring, before the ball was passed to Ben Healy who picked out full-back Aran Egan. Egan spread it to winger Ronan Quinn who then cut in through a couple of Rockwell players before dotting down under the posts for a superb try. Glenstal now lead by 7.
Yet Rockwell were right back in it when with little time remaining, sub winger Ryan O’Sullivan caught a loose bouncing ball for a sixty metre sprint to the line. Flannery’s conversion went wide of the posts and Glenstal held out to win in what were tough conditions for both sides.
FT: Glenstal 10-8 Rockwell
In the other Senior match today, CBC had all too much for Ardscoil as the Cork boys ran out as 34-7 winners.
