JUNIOR CUP REPORT: Castletroy Scrape Past Bandon In Close Encounter

A very tight encounter in Cork ended with a victory for the Trojans in the Junior Cup.

The game started slow with both side getting a feel for Junior Cup. Momentum shifted throughout between the two sides the first half and Bandon were able to grab a try from Jason Connolly and made the conversion.

Half-Time: Bandon 7-0 Castletroy

The second was very fast-paced and after an excellent run from Louis Cuneen, Cian White was able to get under the posts for a try converted from Andrew Shanahan. The outstanding factor throughout was the poor refereeing and this continued with a penalty given for both sides at opposite ends of the fields. Bandon made theirs through Robert O’Connor to take the lead while Castletroy missed theirs.

Castletroy increased the tempo and applied huge pressure on the Bandon side. After a mistake in the Bandon five, Castletroy were able to convert the five metre scrum into a second try for Cian White. Castletroy held out for the win in the last few minutes.

Final Score: Bandon 10-12 Castletroy College
